Are you going to take a city trip in the Netherlands? Come to the sunny south! Breda is a wonderful city to spend a weekend, but it is also highly recommended for a day trip. A wonderful city for a good time with your friends, family or your loved one. You can eat, drink, drink wine and relax here. These are the 7 nicest hotspots in Breda! They come, in no particular order.
1. Brasserie Bardot + wine bar Petit Bardot
A piece of Paris in the center of Breda. Brasserie Bardot is a typical French bistro where you can eat very well. Both inside and outside – with those cozy Parisian chairs – you really feel like you are in the city of love. In addition to Brasserie Bardot, there has also been wine bar Petit Bardot since last summer, for those who fancy a very good glass of French wine.

2. Lunch at Puick
Walking into Puick in the Veemarktstraat feels like coming home, as if you are walking into a cozy living room with friends. Lots of plants, wooden furniture and cosiness. The menu contains surprising dishes and for those who cannot choose (guilty), the Puicke combos are recommended. Then take the coconut soup and the spring rolls, so delicious! Everything you see at Puick is also for sale: the chairs, the tables and even the plants and you can also buy nice and original gifts.

3. Yirga coffee bar
The trendy coffee bar Yirga is located in a quiet spot in the St. Annsatraat, near the Valkenberg park. A typical bar that you might also come across in New York, Barcelona or Copenhagen. On the menu are a lot of different types of coffee, tea and hot chocolate. You can also have lunch, brunch or a cake there. In a cozy seat in front of the window, in the summer on the terrace in the sun or inside at the long wooden table.

4. Van Cooth 13
The Van Coothplein has been doing its best for a year now to become the coziest part of Breda. A slew of new restaurants opened in the last year, including from Cooth 13 next to Bagels & Beans. A trendy thing to see and a nice new place to have lunch. Most dishes come from the grill and that makes Cooth 13 just that little bit different. Here you can eat ‘culinary burgers’ and a pulled pork sandwich, for example.

5. Coffee Bar Anyway
Coffee bars have been sprouting like mushrooms lately and then suddenly there was Sowieso in the Nieuwstraat, opposite Run2Day. In any case, there is a coffee bar that has only just opened (April 2016) and where you can enjoy home-roasted coffee and also homemade tasty things to go with it. There is little space in front of the door for a terrace, but luckily anyway, there is also a garden.

6. In Jugs & Jars
The Veemarktstraat has also become nicer and more fun lately. In addition to Puick (at number 2 in this list), many new shops have also opened and nearby you will also find the newest ice cream parlor in Breda (on the Vlaszak). In the Veemarktstraat there is also In Kannen & Kruiken, a kind of cozy living room where brightly colored crockery is placed on the table and where Grandma seems to have knitted the cushions. A very nice place to have lunch, a drink or a cup of coffee or tea.

7. Heavenly
Hotspots do not necessarily have to be new, because Hemels in the Wilhelminastraat has been there for a while. A large, deep place with a nice garden where you can have a very tasty lunch. You can also eat there in the evening or just drink a glass of wine, but lunch is my favorite. Recommended: a heavenly lunch, then you get a small soup, a salad and a sandwich, or go for carpaccio for the bouncer (I always take it, it’s so delicious!).
