When I think of Málaga, I mainly think of the delicious food in this cozy Spanish city. I’ve been there several times and each time I discover new favorites. I can’t get enough of the delicious tapas, but besides Spanish dishes you will find many other world cuisines in Málaga. I would like to show you my favorite restaurants with good food and drinks in Málaga!

The nicest restaurants in Málaga on the map

On the map below you will find our recommendations for good food in Málaga. This way you can see exactly which restaurant is close to your accommodation.

Casa Lola

Casa Lola restaurant

Casa Lola is one of the most popular tapas bars in Málaga. Here you will still find typical Spanish tapas such as patatas bravas, gambas al pil pil and croquetas de bacalao, but also some more modern small dishes such as mini hamburgers on a brioche bun. In addition, there are a number of delicious pintxos on the menu, as well as larger main courses. It is a real family restaurant with something for everyone. The food is delicious and despite the fact that Casa Lola is located in the tourist center, this tapas bar still has an authentic feel, partly because of the typical Spanish interior with the blue and white tiles. If you want to eat at Casa Lola in the evening, it is advisable to make a reservation, because the terraces on both sides of the road in particular are full in no time.

KGB (Kuartel Gastronomic Bar)

KGB: Kuartel Gastronomic Bar
KGB: Kuartel Gastronomic Bar

KGB is a hidden gem that you should definitely check out. It is located in a narrow side street of the main shopping street and you really have to know that it is there, otherwise you will walk right past it. At KGB you will find tapas made by various star chefs. This restaurant is listed in the Michelin guide. The tapas are therefore slightly more expensive than at the average tapas bar, but still very affordable by Dutch standards. If you come here for the first time, they also have a handy overview of their top 10 best tapas in addition to their menu. You take a seat at the long bar and can order directly at the bar. We tasted their famous KGBull burger, the patatas bravas divorciadas and the conchinita pibil, among others. Everything tasted really great!

La Taberna del Pintxo is one of my favorite restaurants in Malaga. After my visit to this pintxos heaven in other places in Andalusia, I was very happy that they are now also in Málaga. The concept of La Taberna del Pintxo is typically Basque. While you enjoy a drink here, waiters keep passing by with trays full of delicious hot snacks, also called pintxos. You keep the sticks that are in the pintxos and pay for them afterwards. You can find the cold pintxos at the bar and you can choose yourself and take it to the terrace. You can order larger dishes or portions to share separately. There is also a delicious dessert buffet. We ate and drank here all evening and only spent €16.50 per person. Highly recommended if you are looking for tasty and cheap food in Málaga. You will find La Taberna del Pintxo in a side street of the popular shopping street Calle Larios.

Mercado Central de Atarazanas

The Mercado Central is the most famous covered market hall in Málaga. Here you will find a large number of stalls with all kinds of goodies such as bread, olives, and typical Spanish cheese and ham. You can also go there for freshly made tapas. At the fish stall, for example, you can have the tastiest fish skewers grilled on the spot. Of course you can also stock up on some delicacies and eat them on the beach of Málaga, for example. The market is open from Monday to Saturday from 08:00 to 14:00. Would you like to learn more about this special market hall and taste the tastiest tapas? Then a food tour through Málaga is recommended. During this 3-hour walk you will visit the Mercado Central de Atarazanas and get to know the various specialties of this market hall.

Cambara

Cambara Málaga

Cambara is located on Muelle Uno, the modern port of Málaga. It is one of the best tapas places in the port. You will find some more chic and unusual tapas, but also ‘normal’ patatas bravas. We tasted, among other things, the Mexican conchinita pibil taco, tiger mussels with pil-pil sauce and grilled lettuce with garlic dressing, anchovies and cashew nuts. Everything tasted delicious. Cambara has a large and sunny terrace where you can relax all day long.

Madeinterranea

Madeinterranea Restaurant and Tapas in Malaga

You know that problem that you really can’t choose because there are so many tasty dishes on the menu? I had that problem with Madeinterranea. Almost everything on the very extensive menu seemed tasty. From typical Spanish tapas such as pimientos de padrón and croquetas de jamon to fusion dishes such as tuna tataki with soy and goat cheese with caramelized onion and pear in filo pastry. In addition to tourists, you also see a striking number of Spaniards on the terrace, which I always find a good sign. Around me I also see that almost everyone also orders the pitch-black squid croquettes that this restaurant is known for. Everything is top quality and the staff are also very friendly and welcoming. Try to save some space for the delicious chocolate soufflé with vanilla ice cream. As soon as you cut it, the liquid chocolate will run out. You don’t have to leave it for the price either. We only lost €15 per person in total.

El Pimpi

El Pimpi is one of the most famous tapas restaurants in Málaga. This is mainly because the actor Antonio Banderas has a share in this restaurant. Besides Antonio Banderas, other celebrities also like to eat here. Playing tennis Rafael Nadal is sometimes spotted and even the Spanish king Juan Carlos has eaten there. At El Pimpi you will find typical Spanish tapas of good quality. From the terrace you have a beautiful view of the Teatro Romano opposite.

Shokudo

Shokudo had only been open for two weeks during our visit, but there was no sign of that as everything went super smoothly. In this Asian restaurant they serve the most amazing ramen, yakisoba, curry, sushi and Asian side dishes. In their restaurant they prepare the food beautifully and the plates look like works of art, so the photos below of our takeaway absolutely do not do justice to their food. The owners are super friendly and the food is freshly prepared for you here with love. If you fancy something other than tapas, Shokudo is highly recommended!

In the mood for something easy or a quick takeaway? At Spago’s you will find delicious fresh Italian pasta. At this tiny Italian restaurant with only three tables you will find different types of homemade pasta and sauces. In addition to the classic bolognese and pesto, you will also find arrabiata, mediterranea and frutti di mare sauce on the menu. The owner is super friendly and the pasta tastes delicious! Definitely recommended for a quick and filling meal.

Granier

Most breakfast places in Málaga do not open until around 9 or 10 am. If you’re hungry early or if you want to get something to eat before you leave for the day, Granier is a handy option. This bakery is open every day from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm. They have, among other things, delicious filled croissants, empanadas, cakes and sandwiches. Ideal for an early breakfast.

Another fine bakery in the center of Málaga is La Canasta. This bakery is located in the beautiful Plaza de la Constitución. There is also a small upper floor with two French balconies, where you can have breakfast with a nice view over the square. In addition to the delicacies in the display case, you can also order very affordable and tasty flautas here. These are small baguettes with all kinds of fillings. You can choose to eat them on the spot or to take them with you.

Cerveceria 100 montaditos

Cerveceria 100 Montaditos is a popular chain in Spain. The menu offers 100 different sandwiches for only 1 to 2 euros each. The sandwiches are filled with different types of cheese, meat, fish, vegetables and other toppings and are served with free chips. There are also a number of simple and cheap hot dishes on the menu. Don’t expect culinary delights or a restaurant where you can dine all evening, but it is definitely recommended for a quick snack in between or a drink on the terrace with some snacks.

Malaga is a beautiful city located in the Andalusian region of Spain, well-known for its rich culinary heritage. The cuisine in Malaga is a delightful mix of traditional Spanish dishes with a strong influence from the Mediterranean. I would like to go back to Malaga just for the delicious food.
