For a beach holiday in Greece you really have to be on Lefkada. Some of the most beautiful beaches in Greece, and as far as I’m concerned in Europe, can be found on this island. The color of the water is intense blue in many places and combined with the white beaches and the green hinterland, it is equally beautiful everywhere. Became curious? I would like to show you the seven most beautiful beaches of Lefkada. Lefkada is a Greek island in the Ionian Sea, connected to the mainland by a causeway.

#1 Porto Katsiki

With a dot in first place in this overview of the most beautiful beaches of Lefkas: Porto Katsiki. I have seen beaches all over the world and I dare say that Porto Katsiki is one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. Porto Katsiki is located in the southwest of Lefkas and when you arrive from the parking lot your mouth literally falls open in amazement. At least mine does anyway. The color of the water, the cliffs, the white beach, Porto Katsiki is really incredibly beautiful. You can drive to Porto Katsiki yourself with a rental car, but it is also possible to book a boat trip from Nidri where you will visit this beach, among other things. Anyway, Porto Katsiki is without a doubt one of the most beautiful beaches in Lefkada.

#2 Egremni beach

According to many, Egremni is the most beautiful beach in Lefkada and I totally understand why. It is located near the Porto Katsiki mentioned above and in terms of beauty it is at least as beautiful. It is a bit of a challenge to get to the beach: via 340 steps you eventually reach the pearly white beach. Egremni is no less than two kilometers long, so you will always be able to find a place here. I myself did not descend the stairs to the beach, but admired the beauty of Egremni from the vantage point above.

#3 Mylos/Milos beach

Mylos beach, also known as Milos beach, is located near Agios Nikitas, an attractive village in the northwest of Lefkada. From Agios Nikitas you walk up a hill via a staircase and then a sandy path. It’s a nice climb, but I promise it’s worth it. After about 15 minutes of walking up, you will be treated to a fantastic view over Mylos beach. The inhabitants of Lefkas want this beach to remain as pure as possible and that rental beds and umbrellas are banned. At the moment (summer 2021) there are a number of beds on the beach, but it is absolutely not commercial. Apart from a small shop where you can buy something to eat and drink, there is nothing. Mylos beach is therefore a great favorite among locals.

#4 Agiofili beach

From the cozy village of Vasiliki you drive in 15 minutes to Agiofili beach, a modest but nice beach in the south of Lefkada. Located in a small bay, Agiofili is very different from most of the other beaches in this overview. Because it is much smaller, it can be packed in high season. In addition to people just going to the beach, boats from Nidri also dock there during the day. If you don’t like crowds, this beach may not be for you in high season. If you do not have your own transport, you can take a taxi boat from the port of Vasiliki to Agiofili beach. In addition, it is also possible to walk to the beach. It will take you about 45 minutes.

#5 Kathisma beach

Kathisma is just about the opposite of little Agiofili. It is definitely one of the most beautiful beaches of Lefkada because it is very wide and spacious. Along the road behind the beach there are quite a few catering establishments and Greek taverns are interspersed with modern, hip bars. I myself had lunch at Monato and if you want something different than typical Greek food, that is highly recommended. At Kathisma there is a huge parking lot and buses also run to this beach.

#6 Klimaki beach

If you are on Lefkas it is highly recommended to take a boat trip. You can rent a boat yourself, but there are also plenty of tours that will take you to the most beautiful beaches of Lefkada. I also did a day tour by boat and it moored at Klimaki beach, a small, uninhabited beach that can only be reached by boat. The water on the east coast of Lefkas has a completely different color than in the west: much greener but at least as clear. Very nice to see!

#7 Vasiliki beach

Vasiliki is an emerging holiday destination in the south of Lefkada. The village consists of a number of shopping streets and a pleasant harbor. In addition, it is mainly known as a windsurfing destination. There is almost always wind in Vasiliki Bay and an annual water sports festival takes place in June. If you are on Lefkas in June, it is definitely recommended to take a look at the festival. It lasts three days and, in addition to windsurfing competitions, there are also competitions with yachts and catamarans. Very cool to see! It is almost always windy in Vasiliki, so even outside the water sports festival it is nice to watch the many windsurfers here on the water.
