Parc Natural de Mondragó is a beautiful natural park on the south coast of Mallorca. The park is best known for the pearly white beaches surrounded by pine trees, the beautiful azure blue sea with surrounding cliffs, the special wetlands and the beautiful hiking trails. The Mondragó Natural Park is therefore a must for both hiking and beach lovers. Take a look at Parc Natural de Mondragó on Mallorca!

Where is Mondrago Natural Park?

Parc Natural de Mondragó is located in the south of Mallorca in the municipality of Santanyí. In 1992, this area was declared an official nature park. The entire park has an area of no less than 766 hectares. Of this, 95 hectares are currently open to the public.

How do you get to Parc Natural de Mondrago?

Parc Natural de Mondragó is best reached by car. From Santanyí you have two options: the Cala Mondragó car park (also known as the Ses Fonts de n’Alis car park) in the north of the park or the S’Amarador car park (also known as the Ca Sa Muda car park) in the southwest. The two entrances are only 500 meters apart as the crow flies. Because you can only drive around the park by car, it is only a half hour drive from one parking lot to the other. Once in the park you can easily walk from one side to the other via a walking path. Parking costs 5 euros per day at both parking lots. Please note that you have to pay this in cash. At the northern parking lot you will also find an information center that is open daily from 09:00 to 16:00.

Beaches in Parc Natural de Mondrago

Most visitors come for the beautiful beaches. In the Mondragó park you will find three of the most beautiful beaches in Mallorca.

Cala Mondragó, also know as Caló de sa Font de n’Alis

Cala Mondragó, also known as Caló de sa Font de n’Alis, is a beautiful bay with a pearly white sand beach and clear water. It is the most accessible beach in the Mondragó Park, as it is located near the Ses Fonts de n’Alis car park. This beach also has a bar and restaurant. Due to its convenient location and facilities, Cala Mondragó is also the most visited beach in the park.

S’Amarador

My personal favorite was S’Amarador beach. This beach is also located in a beautiful bay, surrounded by greenery. You can reach this S’Amarador from the Ca Sa Muda parking lot. From here it is a few hundred meters to the stairs that take you to this fantastic beach. There is a beautiful walking path along the water between Cala Mondragó and S’Amarador, which makes it perfectly possible to visit both beaches.

Calo des Burgit

A somewhat smaller, but certainly no less beautiful beach is Caló des Burgit. Of the three beaches, this one is the least accessible, making it the quietest beach. If you want to enjoy the Mondragó Park in peace, this beach is the best option.

Hiking trails in Parc Natural de Mondragó

In addition to visiting the beautiful beaches of the park, it is also worthwhile to take a walk here. Four beautiful short walking routes have been mapped out in the park, of a maximum of half an hour per walk. Along the way you have a beautiful view of the coast and the azure blue sea at various places.

#1 Mirador de Ses Fonts de n’Alis

The first walking route starts at the northern parking lot of Sa Font de n’Alis and leads to the viewpoint ‘Mirador de ses Fonts de n’Alis’. From this viewpoint you have a great view of the surrounding cliffs and the wetland of Ses Fonts de n’Alis, where you can spot many special birds with a bit of luck.

Length: 630 meters
Duration: 15 minutes

#2 La Volta a Sa Guardia d’en Garrot

The second route crosses the rocky promontory of Sa Guardia d’en Garrot, which is located between the beaches of Cala Mondragó and Caló des Burgit. Along the way you have a beautiful view of the sea and the special limestone plates on this cape. This route can be combined with a visit to the beach of Caló des Burgit.

Length: 940 meters
Duration: 25 minutes

#3 La Punta de ses Gatoves

The third hiking trails starts near the beach of S’Amarador. From here you walk a beautiful route through the woods close to the coast, giving you a great view of the sea at various places along the way. I personally thought this was the most beautiful route.

Length: 720 meters
Duration: 25 minutes

#4 S’Amarador

The fourth and last walking route starts near the parking lot of Ca Sa Muda on the southern side of the park. This route cuts through nature and introduces you to the wetland of S’Amarador.

Nice places near Parc Natural de Mondragó

A visit to the Mondragó nature park can easily be combined with a number of beautiful places in the area.

Cala Figuera

Just a 10 minute drive from the south parking lot is the fishing village of Cala Figuera. Here you will find authentic white houses with characteristic green shutters that this part of Mallorca is known for. Many fishermen’s cottages also have a terrace that opens onto the water’s edge where they can moor their boats. Cala Figuera is beautifully situated between the rock walls full of pine and fig trees.

Santanyi

Santanyí is a typical Spanish village a short ten minute drive from the Mondragó park. This is a nice place to stop for lunch, for example at the Retroway restaurant. On Wednesday there is a large market in Santanyí that is definitely worth a visit. It is also a wonderful place to wander around between the narrow alleys.

Es Pontas

From the southern parking lot of S’Amador it is a fifteen minute drive to Es Pontas. This is a huge rock in the sea in the shape of a bridge. This natural bridge is over 20 meters high and very impressive to see. You can reach the viewpoint via a short hiking trail. From this viewpoint you not only have a beautiful view of Es Pontas itself, but also of the beautiful surroundings full of high cliffs and clear azure water.
