As fun as traveling is, it is always somewhat tiring, especially when it comes to air travel. That’s why it’s better to start a journey rested, no matter how long or short it is. The long queues at Schiphol that we have been dealing with lately do not contribute to this in a positive way.Fortunately, there is a way to start a trip relaxed, for example by sleeping at the airport. Then you no longer have to deal with extra travel time and possible delays on your way there. Sometimes that is also a very handy solution, for example if you cannot get to the airport on time by public transport. And especially if you don’t live near Schiphol.
Sheraton Amsterdam Airport Hotel
Anyone who has ever parked at P1 and walks through the long corridor to the arrivals hall has undoubtedly already seen this hotel in the corner of their eye: Sheraton Amsterdam Airport Hotel. There is no hotel closer to arrivals and departures. In fact, it is no more than a two-minute walk away. That already takes some of the stress out of being on time.
▸ Tip: If you are flying from Schiphol, make sure you have the Schiphol app on your phone. In it you can see the current waiting times at, among other things, security and you know how long you can stay in your bed.

View of the Schiphol control towerIn recent weeks, Irene and I have slept several times in the Sheraton Amsterdam Airport Hotel, mainly for practical reasons. Sometimes flights are so early that you cannot get to Schiphol on time by public transport. Or – in my case – if you’re traveling with a little girl of one and a half years old, and your flight leaves at 07:00 in the morning, it’s an excellent idea to be able to let her sleep in bed for as long as possible. The shorter the travel time to the airport, the better, especially early in the morning.
In such cases it is very nice to be able to sleep at Schiphol. And the Sheraton Hotel at Schiphol is also a very pleasant hotel. It was recently renovated and the rooms are spacious, modern and pleasant.
Especially the idea that you are at the airport within two minutes is nice, that certainly saves stress during the journey there!

Sheraton Amsterdam Airport Hotel is of course right next to the parking garage. If you come by car, it is smart to reserve your parking space at the same time, because that is cheaper than the hotel and the parking garage separately.
Besides the fact that your journey starts very relaxed when you wake up at Schiphol, the Sheraton Amsterdam Airport is also a very good hotel. Whether you feel like exercising, having a drink or an extensive meal the day before departure: this beautiful hotel has all the facilities. And, perhaps the best of all: you have an instant holiday feeling even before you get on the plane!
